Animation is a process of creating moving pictures and images with the help of technology and software. Animation is widely used in different areas like TV, Films, Ads, Architecture, Medical Industry, Fashion Industry, Education etc. A person who creates animations is called animator.
Since animation has become so all-pervasive, work opportunities for animators exists in various sectors at large like Advertising, Online and Print News Media, Film & Television, Cartoon production, Theater, Video Gaming and E-learning.Another option for animators is to start their own little firm, do freelancing work or even work for big or small animation studios, advertising agencies, media houses, game developers or film and TV production houses.

The animation industry today is one of the most promising industries and is constantly evolving. The animation industry in India will grow at 22 percent every year as per the latest report of NASSCOM. According to the KPMG India-FICCI Indian Media and Entertainment Industry Report 2017, animation industry in India grew at 16.4 per cent in 2016 to reach a size of INR59.5 billion, with 31 per cent growth in VFX, while growth rate of animation was 9 percent. India is said to have nearly 300 animation, 40 visual effects and 85 game development studios with over 15,000 professionals working for them.
The animation industry in India is large and is growing because of which there is a constant demand for skilled professionals both in India and worldwide. As of now, 20,000 (5%) people out of 4 lakh people in the media and entertainment sector are employed in the animation, VFX and gaming industry. This figure is expected to rise to 4.4 lakh by 2023.Animation is undoubtedly going to turn around as one of the hottest career options in India in coming years and can be easily compared with other professions like engineering and medicine etc.
